inspect the trees to be felled and if he thinks fit shall give permission for the felling of such trees as he shall mark. The Land Officer shall assess the value of all trees felled or injured by the Licensee or his employees, and the Licensee shall pay to such person as the Land Officer may direct the amount of such assessment.

In the event of any injury or damage being occasion- ed by the operations of the Licensee to any crops, plantations. banks, buildings or other property whatsoever the icensee shall pay to the injured party such sum as the Land Officer may award as compensation.

The Licensee shall not obstruct or foul any running or standing waters or any water-course or water-gathering area within the area covered by the Licence, but he may otherwise make use of such water in such places, by such means, in such marner and in such quantities as may be permitted by the

Government.

All spoil and debris shall be so disposed of as to avoid being washed into any water-course or over any culti- -vated land.

The Licensee shall adopt such precautions as may be prescribed by law, or as the Land Officer or other Officer appointed by the Governor may direct, in regard to the storage and use of explosives within the area covered by the Licence,

No buildings shall be erected by the Licenses within

the area covered by the Licence except such temporary struct- ures as may be required for the use of the employees of the Licenses for storing materials or explosives. All such structures as may be erected shall be subject to the control of the Land Officer or other Officer appointed by the Governor and shall be removed by the Licensee if the Land Officer or
